I have had two horses who reared in my time, the whack at the poll and egg and water trick did not work. I had to get a very very long stick, used a lunge stick without the long rope on it. When it reared you had to lean forward and seriously whack it on its tummy where it was venerable. This stopped them rearing but it was in my younger days when I had more nerves . The other one I had flipped over backwards onto me, after it did this the second time when it was on the ground I am afraid it got a boot in its belly from me and never ever reared again. At that point it was the end of the road for me and the horse, thats why i booted it. It turned the corner and went on to be a very successful horse . The same horse used to launch itself at you at feed time and bite you, ( an x race horse) it took 3 months to sort that out. Again the final straw the day it bit me so hard on my shoulder that I saw red and jumped round its neck and firmly bit it on the ear . It never bit again and my shoulder needed treatment which was a reminder to me never to ever have a horse that bites. The last horse was 9 at the time, so you cannot say they are to old to change theer ways or learn before you all jump up in arms this was 2 horses with extreme problems and bullied people for a lot of there lives. The horse that reared and flipped was on its last chance before it was to be put down. Also above horses teeth, tack etc were checked and were spot on

Try planting a battery in the bin in a place where dog will touch it with wet nose! You know, one of the small square batteries with the 2 wee metal bits on the top? It gives them that horrible shocky feeling, (you know whats it's like if you touch one with your tongue). No more cruel than an electric fence for the horses!
Works really well especially with dogs that scrounge, slight rustle of paper and they're over - but not if they connect it with the dreaded battery!
