Following my meeting with work today, and it was decided that they couldnt offer me anything else or do anything to make it easier....
Actually Im OK about it.
It means that now i can have the op, and recover in my own time, until i feel ready to look for a job again, it will also let me see if i could do a job in retail again or not...
I can re-apply for a job in Scotmid if they have anything going, which they do, most of the time.
But.. in afterthought, she said "since i've only been with them for a year, i'll get one weeks notice"... I've been employed with them for nearly two years... is she taking the time i've had off (this year and two months from last year) as not a working time.. but surely it's still an employed time as they've paid me for it.

Really hope you get the knee sorted and back to work as soon as. If you make a realy good recovery you could be a trek leader for us next year at Newtonmore. Good Luck

Hey what a fantastic job that would be Julz!!!
Sorry to hear about the job but glad you are feeling okay about it. The important thing is to get you all mended once and for all hun. I don't know re the query you have regarding entitlement to pay etc but might be worth giving your local CAB a call perhaps?
xx

Sorry to hear about your job Julz but glad you can crack on with your ops which are so important to get you back fighting fit xxx Dont let your employer get away with that, it may be an added stress but another vote for CAB or union fighting your corner to get all the benefits you are entitled too, I take it you have to go back for further meetings to discuss pay e.t.c? and wow what a job offer!

Course i'd have to bring S with me, so i could continue to look after him, and Tara and the cats..... might even be able to do some light hacking on S, if the terrain isnt too rough??

Sorry to hear about that Julz.
The time that you have been with a company is counted from the day you started. Dont let them wangle you out of anything!!
Good luck with your op though!!

Sorry to hear your news. I hope things work out for you. It sounds like a good opportunity to have your operation and recover in your own time, without the added stress of trying to go back to work before you are ready.
FYI, the minimum notice period required by law is one week's notice if an employee has been employed by an employer continuously for one month or more, but for less than two years. This increases to two weeks' notice if the employee has been employed by the employer continuously for two years, and one additional week's notice for each further complete year of continuous employment, up to a maximum of 12 weeks.
Your notice period will be clearly stated in your contract of employment, which your employer is required by law to provide you with. Perhaps that's what your boss/supervisor meant when she said you had only been there for a year (i.e. less than two years - she could have put it better!). Continuous service with a company starts from day one, regardless of any periods of sick leave.
(I worked in HR in a previous life but this information is freely available. Just Google "statutory notice period".)
